YOUR REASSURANCE
SAFE, CLINICAL SKIN TAG REMOVAL
Skin tag removal is a safe and simple procedure that is undertaken here, at our Gloucestershire Skin Tag Removal Clinic, by our nurse-led team of clinicians.
It’s not always clear why some people are more prone to skin tags than others. There are no obvious reasons why some people get them while others don’t. You might have more than one skin tag and choose to have them both removed in the same treatment.
While some skin tags might look wart-like, they are not contagious and they won’t return after they have been removed by treatment.
Cryotherapy is our preferred option and it tends to be the most convenient treatment for our clients. Cryotherapy involves treatment through freezing. Other skin tag removal treatments include removal by cutting or by burning them off. However, at the Gloucestershire skin Tag removal clinic, we will use cryotherapy or laser treatment.
HOW OUR WART REMOVAL CLINIC CAN HELP
At our Gloucestershire Wart Removal Clinic, every skin tag removal patient will have the tag or tags due for removal clinically assessed by one of our nursing team. Usually, most tags assessed are considered suitable for removal. Following nurse-led assessment, our nurse will apply nitrous oxide, or N20, to the to the area. Applied with a pen-like precision tool, nitrous oxide is very cold and will freeze the skin tag’s stalk. This stops the flow of blood to the skin tag and kills the tag.
The treatment will feel like the nib of a ballpoint pen has been applied to the skin. While the tip of the application tool will not penetrate the skin, you may feel the point touching your skin during the treatment. When applying the nitrous oxide during the treatment, the nurse may need to use the precision tool for a second application. This will usually depend on the skin tag’s size. Typically, tags can be treated in one session. There are some occasions when large skin tags can require follow up treatment in a second session.
After the procedure, it is possible to feel a slight tingling sensation in the area of treatment. While the treatment is not sore or painful, clients may feel a gentle stinging feeling for the duration of the rest of the day.
Once the cryotherapy treatment has been completed, the skin tag will start to change colour in the days after treatment. It will becoming darker and it may feel as if it is drying out. It may start to feel a little crusty – this is a good sign as it shows the skin tag is dying. Shortly, within a few days, the skin tag will simply fall off altogether. You may see a small mark where the skin tag has fallen off but this will vanish in time. Once the treatment area has healed, you will be able to go back to your normal skin care routine.
If you have any queries or issues that you would like to discuss with our team, please do contact our Gloucestershire Skin Tag Removal Clinic. Our nurses will be happy to help.

Some people are more prone to skin tags than others, however it is not clear why this might be the case. You may opt to have more than one skin tag removed at a time. Skin tags may sometimes look like warts; however, they are neither contagious and they will not grow back once removed.
Our preferred option – and the most convenient for our clients – is to have skin tags removed via freezing. This process is known as cryotherapy. Skin tags can also be removed by cutting them off or burning them off, however at our clinic, we prefer to use cryotherapy.
